About The Rainbow Connection
The Story
In Hawaiian culture, when someone dies, it is said that she or he "walked the rainbow." My husband made that journey on Oct. 29, 2016. It was his birthday.
Birth and death, like heaven and earth, may seem so different, so far from each other. But just like rainbows connect the terrestrial world to the celestial, the spirit of love provides a vibrant, connective path between the living and the "dead." Birth is no more an entrance into love and life than death is an exit.
That eternal aspect of existence is reflected in the rainbow as well. The colorful "arch" in the sky is actually a complete circle - an eternal round, as it were. It only appears severed because of a viewer's position on the ground. The horizon gets in the way of the complete picture. Perspective changes everything.
This site is about perspectives. It begins with my own, but I hope it brings in yours too. I believe that, together, we can find beauty and healing as we connect with each other through the pain and complexities of grief.
And maybe, like the musical frog once said, "Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection: the lovers, the dreamers, and me."
